After that, you'll start your lengthy, picturesque ascent from Haridwar to Govindghat. Travel via Devaprayag en route to see the sacred Ganges River, which is formed by the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. There are times when you can only see the river running in the gorge below, where the roadways are carved out of the side of the mountain. Additionally, Joshimath, the halfway point of several holy sites, will be traversed by you. Make your overnight stop at Govindghat later in the evening.

After that, you'll be taken to Poolna, a nearby town, from where you'll begin your hike to Ghangaria. Stroll along the well-marked path that runs by the stunning Lakshman Ganga River and through a verdant forest. Give a minute of thanks to the volunteers who clean up the trail every day, keeping it free of debris and in top shape. Along the route, stop at different dhabas to replenish your water bottles and grab some munchies.Following a brief, steady climb of nine kilometers, you will arrive in Ghangaria, a tiny settlement surrounded by mountains. After checking into your hotel, venture out to enjoy the stunning surroundings.
Distance: 4 km (one side) | Duration: 6-7 hours | Elevation: 11,500ft. / 3,505m Get your day started with a hearty breakfast. You are going to climb 3,505 meters today in order to reach the Valley of Flowers. A quick glance at the lush surroundings will transport you to a paradise adorned with vibrant flowers. As you feast your eyes on one of nature's most exquisite masterpieces, which will soothe your soul, pause to appreciate the moment. Continue climbing into the valley to see thousands of vivid, colorful flowers in full bloom. Even though it would be difficult to leave such a beautiful vista behind, you must start your trip back to Ghangaria in good time in order to get there before dusk.
Distance: 6 km (one side) | Duration: 9-10 hours | 14,107ft. / 4,300m Start your day early with a steaming cup of chai while you listen to the cacophony of people chanting bhajans. The trail is a steep incline, making the trek to Hemkund Sahib challenging. A hiking stick can be helpful. You'll feel the impact of lower oxygen levels in the air, so walk gently and stop often. Arrive at Hemkund Sahib, a holy location where Guru Gobind Singh is reputed to have meditated during a past incarnation. Undoubtedly serene and tranquil, this location is surrounded by seven snow-capped mountains and has the glistening Hemkund Lake just behind it.As the weather in this area can be erratic, with sudden cloud cover and rain, begin the steep descent back to Ghangaria in the late afternoon. After you get back, stay the night at the hotel and have dinner outside under the stars.
Distance: 13 km | Duration: 4-5 hours | Elevation: 9,600ft. / 2,926m Using the same trail that you previously hiked, you will begin the short 9 km descent to Poolna after eating breakfast in the morning. You can take a taxi from Poolna to Govindghat, which is 4 km distant. You can spend the evening taking a tour of the stunning Auli if you'd like. Return to the Govindghat hotel later in the evening to spend the night there.
